Why we get out of balance

There are many ways that we can feel out of balance in life, which have a knock-on effect on our health. I have broken these down into three aspects which I address in my process.

The Physical Aspect

This can be defined by chemical and physical imbalances in the body and is completely addressed by the process. These imbalances could look like:

  • Having an imbalance in your diet,

  • Having an imbalance in your movement (too much exercise, too little, the wrong type),

  • Having an imbalance in your gut microbiome or skin microbiome etc,

  • Having food, chemical or environmental allergies, intolerances, or over-exposures,

  • Having a biochemical deficit – a deficit of a certain mineral or nutrient, not enough exposure to sunlight, a hormonal deficit etc.

The Emotional Aspect

The second area covered is the Emotional Aspect and is really the backbone of my work.

I have yet to come across anyone whose work does not include addressing this area, whose imbalances have not been caused by this – the presence of stored emotions that we are unconsciously holding onto in the body.

They may range from emotions associated with huge traumas to stressful emotions that we haven’t even identified in ourselves as impacting us, attached to what we might not even consider a minor transgression.

Nevertheless, they are affecting us and the impact of removing them is huge and fundamental to getting back into balance.

I have also yet to meet someone whose imbalances haven’t been caused by this – the presence of stored emotions.

The Emotional Aspect is often the reason why the Physical Aspect is out of balance too.

For example, the stored emotions could be the reason why we can’t control our diet and are overweight, it could stop us from absorbing certain minerals or nutrients leading to a deficit, and it could wreak havoc with our digestion leading to an imbalance in the gut microbiome. And so naturally getting back into balance will involve working with both aspects at the same time.

Also covered under the Emotional Aspect are the beliefs that we are carrying that can also have a major impact on our health, especially when illness has been with us for a long time. That is not to say that you are ill because of your beliefs (though that is possible), but more likely, that after having addressed the root cause, certain lingering beliefs can be the issues preventing you from flipping the switch back to health and thus need to be addressed. Recognising and rewriting these beliefs can be key for some people.

The Spiritual Aspect

The third Aspect that can lead us to get ill is the Spiritual Aspect – which is about being out of alignment in our lives. This aspect is never the sole reason for our ill health but is something that is usually tied to the stored emotions. This can look like:

  • Feeling out of line in our work,

  • Feeling unconnected to those around us or to nature,

  • Having no direction,

  • Feeling despondent,

  • Spending too much time alone,

  • Spending too much time in a state of stress/

  • Being glued to current affairs.

Working with this aspect usually involves introducing lifestyle changes like meditation, mindful activities and ways of reconnecting back into the world.

Getting back in balance often results in addressing at least two if not all three of these aspects, all of which is done by a process that is individualised and unique to you.
