What is at your core?
I’ve spoken about making a mental pin drop of where you are trying to go in your life and always having that in the back of your mind to set your direction. Another way of aligning yourself to your future is about thinking about what is your core message, what is it in essence that you are trying to do?
Honing in and focusing on this is also another way of really aligning your future with where you want to go.
When I was a designer I remember hearing a lot about your USP - your Unique Selling Point - what is it you are bringing to the market that no one else is. I found it helpful whenever I had doubts about my work and it helped me focus on what was uniquely mine to offer.
This isn’t exactly that, but it’s similar. Instead of what you are bringing to the table, try and distill whatever your message is into its clearest form. It can be a way of trying to find what it is you want to do, or honing in on the area of whatever it is you are already doing.
Why are you doing what you are doing? What is your goal? What is your reason for getting out of bed? And have that at the back of your mind just like where you want to be going.
It doesn’t have to be complicated, and it doesn’t have to be ambitious. The clearer it is the more effective it will be. It can be as simple as living your life feeling creatively fulfilled and sharing those gifts with others. Or feeling like everything I do is done with positive intention.
For example, I can look at what I do in many ways - Am I trying to help people release themselves of their physical symptoms? Am I trying to help people understand their past and how they got there? Am I trying to help people not get sick again? Am I trying to teach people a method that they can use to help others? All of these are true but the one most distilled core version is that I am trying to help people reach their biggest most expanded lives without limits. When I focus on that all the rest follows. And so along with my pin drop of where I want to get to in the future, that is the aligned message of what I want to be doing all the way.
What is your distilled message? Where do you want to be going?
